I was thinking about the meeting we just had and how I was hoping we might pull ourselves in from the abstract to the medium-practical in terms of direction and group activities. While the abstract discussions are important and will certainly go on even beyond the scope of any project, I was wondering if you all might be interested to play a little game that is about some concrete tasks.
Pam told me about a project she is working on with Shirley Tse and since they are both traveling a lot during the summer, they each gave the other a list of tasks that may or may not in the end have anything to do with the work they make together. I thought that perhaps we could each come up with one task for each other member of the group. So we would each end up with 5 tasks each, one from each other member. They would need to be things that could be accomplished without any tools, technology, or money unless you wanted to use those things. We also wouldn't have to complete all 5 tasks, but it could be a way to focus ourselves into engaging with the topics and themes we have been considering.
Please respond and if it is of interest to everyone (consensus), then we can proceed with how to do it. If it is not of interest to any one of you, please write about something that might accomplish the same goal (to make the abstract more concrete and pragmatic) and suggest an alternative that we cal all consider.

hi i have lots to say about this but i have had a crazy week and i will try to respond tomorrow!
pam :)
hi
yes, i love the idea of having some tasks to complete. reminds me of psyche who was given tasks to perform by aphrodite.
(sorry it's taken so long to respond. but we had a natural disaster here. really. the well pump broke. NO water anywhere. had to go stay with my mom for several days.)
I'm in...sounds interesting. I'm curious about Pam's thoughts on this?
I think it's a great idea. I like very much the idea of one from each of us.
Oh I think it is a great idea... it is really funny that when i do projects around the same time, there always ends up being an overlap of ideas- which is great.. I would like this with this group- so we can talk about it when we meet on the 16th - I was thinking that we could paint and then have a meeting am I correct? I have thought lots about this project and what we talked about the last meeting.....
pam
So...if I understand this correctly, each one of us will come up with a journey/task to have each member take on. So I will have five assignments, plus the one I give out. (which I think that we should give ourself to do too.) Okay...I'll get back to you on this....
I think that however we come up with "tasks" is fine. One for everyone or one for each other member so the tasks are different; or any other method will work and be fun and interesting.
Okay, it works for me either way, ... I'll work on getting some ideas together.
I googled the Mayan calendar guy that Linda referred us to. I guess we'll have a meeting to discuss what we discovered? or will this be a blog thing?
Pertaining to the Mayan calendar,...it's an interesting time for artists right now.
